My Work

My interests and professional experience is in one of the most interesting fields of modern electronics (I think so!), the Digital Signal Processing applications!

According to my experience this is the one and only way in which complicated and advanced numerical methods can be implemented in the real world using advanced technology. It's really an amazing feeling! You have read in the books that a problem can be easily solved using this or that formula, but for people with more practical interest this is only mathematics and is in every aspect boring. But with your first program designed for a Digital Signal Processor you are impressed by looking at the Scope and seeing what you have seen in the books, not as an abstraction but in vivid reality! It's amazing.

Maybe it sounds a little bit romantic, but I'm a strong believer that everything worth in the world is the result of great feelings, enthusiasm and love!

So, my working experience is with the Analog Devices ADSP-21XX Digital Signal Processor. They are 16-bit fixed point machines, which incorporate all important features of a signal processor in a single, low power consuming device. And this features are:

For more information about the ADSP-21XX processors and the new generation of floating point SHARC-machines I will highly recommend the web site of Analog Devices.

You can download a Windows Help file, covering the instruction set of the ADSP-2100 Family Processors. As a source for this help file I have used the ADSP-2100 Family User's Manual (Analog Devices).

I am maintaining also the web page of the Department of Radiophysics and Electronics at the Faculty of Physics (Sofia University). The address is: http://rfe.phys.uni-sofia.bg.

If you are trying to connect an intelligent display (alphanumerical) to the ADSP-21XX, you can use the source code in the zip-file below. Here a bug in Engineer To Engineer Note EE-37 from Analog Devices Inc. is fixed.

I will place more useful things concerning the digital signal processing in the future. So keep visiting my page!
